Building Better Solutions: New Fab Capabilities

The only constant on the farm is change. Layouts differ, airflow challenges vary and what works perfectly in one barn may need a little tweaking in another. No two dairies are the same. But one thing that never changes is the timeliness in which every dairy needs their challenges addressed. Flexibility and speed matter when it comes to providing service and support on the farm.

Delivering Solutions

That fact is the driver behind our recent equipment investments at VES-Artex. With the addition of a brake press, plasma table and pipe bender, our team can now handle more steel fabrication in-house, giving our customers and our dealers more customization options and faster turnaround times.

“Our ability to create any and all steel products that are needed inside a facility is now there, and we can do it much quicker,” says Jake Weber, operations manager at VES-Artex. “The steel market is really one of speed, and this allows us to do whatever is required for the barn and do it faster.”

Engineered On Site

Many of our steel components are drop-shipped, which, in the past, could mean longer lead times and less flexibility if something needed to change. The process could slow things down when a project required something custom or when adjustments were needed in the field. That is no longer the case. Today, by bringing fabrication capabilities in-house, we’ve reduced the turnaround times for customization and can build the parts we – YOU – need when they are needed. Designs can be adjusted more easily and projects can keep moving without waiting weeks for outside suppliers.

The equipment addition is another shift in the right direction for our team and our ability to support the industry.

“With our new ownership, we can make decisions faster and continue listening to the market,” Weber says. “In the past, we have looked at this equipment three or four times. As soon as Jason and Ed acquired VES-Artex, the decision was made. We want to be more versatile, and more importantly, we want to be able to better serve our customers.”

The added equipment also strengthens collaboration across teams. Engineering, service and installation crews can work more closely together, making sure components fit properly and perform the way they should once they’re in the barn. It’s a practical upgrade that improves both efficiency and outcomes.

Training is already part of the plan as well. While Weber brings a background in steel fabrication, manufacturers are providing on-site training as the new equipment comes fully online.

For dairy producers and our dealers who serve them, the benefit is simple: fewer delays and fewer workarounds.

Whether it’s a retrofit, an expansion or a unique challenge that doesn’t fit a standard mold, our team at VES-Artex now has the flexibility to deliver exactly what’s needed. What custom project can we start for you today?
